Let's get everything we need to build this properly.

Do this when you've got a clear run at it rather than between jobs. What you write here is what we build from.

01 · The basics

First up, the business itself.

Exactly as you want it to appear on the site, invoices and Google.

We need the business name to get going.

01 · The basics

Who are we dealing with?

The person we'll actually talk to day to day.

Name, email and phone are all needed so we can reach you.

01 · The basics

Where are you based?

Google cares about this more than almost anything else, so it's worth getting right.

Pick how you operate, and tell us the city and state you're in.

01 · The basics

Where do you work, and when?

Be specific with cities, towns and neighbourhoods. These become real pages that rank, so a vague answer here costs you traffic.

Tell us where you work so we can build the location pages.

02 · What you do

What kind of business is this?

Pick the closest fit. The next two questions change based on your answer, so you only get asked things that actually apply to you.

Pick one so we can ask you the right questions next.

02 · What you do

Who are you trying to reach?

Write it as a person, not a demographic. The copy on the whole site gets written to whoever you describe here.

The ideal customer and their problem both shape the copy, so we need those two.

02 · What you do

Why do people pick you?

This is the single most valuable question on the form. Resist the urge to say "quality and service". Everyone says that. What do you actually do that the mob down the road doesn't?

The differentiator and the goal are the two that drive everything else.

02 · What you do

The numbers, and where you're headed.

Nothing here is compulsory, and none of it goes on the site. It tells us what a lead is actually worth to you, which changes what we build and what we chase. Ballpark is fine, and skip anything you'd rather keep to yourself.

02 · What you do

Who are you up against?

Two or three names is plenty. We look at what they're doing so we can put you above them, not copy them.

03 · The website

What's there right now?

Be blunt about what's wrong with it. We can't fix what nobody mentions. If there's no site yet, straight past this one.

03 · The website

Domain, hosting and logins.

This is the part that holds up launches, so it's worth chasing down now rather than on go live day. If you're not sure, say so. We'll dig it up.

Pick the option that's closest to your situation.

Never send passwords through this form. We'll set up a secure way to share logins once we're underway.

03 · The website

What does it need to do?

The structure and the design are our job, so we won't ask you to plan those. This is the functional side. Pick everything that matters to you.

Pick at least one thing it needs to do.

04 · Assets

Everything you've got, in one place.

Logos, photos, video, brochures, old files, a branding folder, anything at all. Don't attach files here. Put them wherever you like and paste the link.

Any cloud drive, transfer service or shared album. It genuinely doesn't matter which. The one thing that does matter: set the sharing to "anyone with the link" before you paste it, then check it opens in a private window. Half the links we get are locked to the owner's account, and it costs everyone a day.

Nothing to send yet? Leave it empty and say so above. We'll sort it out together.

05 · Online presence

Your Google Business Profile.

For a local business this is often worth more than the website itself. We'll look up the listing ourselves, we just need to know where it stands.

Pick the closest option. We'll verify it ourselves either way.

05 · Online presence

Where else do you show up?

Only the ones you actually use. If you can't find a link quickly, skip it. We can track these down.

05 · Online presence

Tracking and advertising.

If accounts already exist we'll carry them over rather than starting from zero and losing your history. Tick what you know about and leave the rest.

06 · Finishing up

Last one. Anything we missed?

This box has saved more projects than any other question on the form. If something's been nagging at you, put it here.

Once you hit send, your saved copy on this device is cleared and everything lands with us.

That's everything. Nicely done.

It's landed with us. Genuinely, the detail you just gave us is what separates a good build from an average one.

  • 01
We read it properly Within one business day. Expect a few clarifying questions off the back of it. That's a good sign, not a bad one. It means we're reading it closely rather than filling in the gaps ourselves.
  • 02
We check your links open Shared folders get tested from outside your account. If one's locked, we'll tell you exactly which.
